Hoq for cafés and coffee counters
The till, the bar's screen, order ahead, gift cards, loyalty and the staff schedule are six separate apps. Link them once, and an order rung up at the counter reaches the bar, the day's sales and the tip pool.

Open up
Staff clock in on the tablet by the door: tap a name, type a PIN. Turn on photo check-in and each punch keeps a picture, so you can see who actually clocked in.
Orders from phones
Regulars build their drink on the order-ahead page: size, milk, syrups and a pickup time. They pay before they arrive, and no address is needed.

At the till, tap size, milk and syrups in any order and send it to the bar the moment it is rung. The bar's screen shows only what changed from the usual drink. Each station sets when a ticket turns amber and red.

Cards on a Stripe reader with its tip screen, or Tap to Pay on an Android phone running the Hoq Till app. Cash and pay-later tabs work too, and an open tab never counts as money taken.
A gift card
Sell one at the counter, spend it on the website, check it from any till. Every place you sell shares one set of cards, and two tills cannot spend the same balance at once. In Washington and California, Funds does not allow an expiry date, as state law requires.

Customers join your loyalty program by scanning a code at the counter. Points per dollar, rewards for money off or a free item, and a text after each sale saying how close they are.

Items marked sold out come back at close. The day's sales are counted by how they were paid, with the card tips from the till and the cash tips you count.

Crew forecasts each hour's sales from the same hours over the last four weeks and shows how many people each hour needs. Copy last week, adjust and publish; everyone sees their shifts on their phone.

Tip pools split by hours, by role points or equally, in steps if some roles come first. Closing the pay period locks the time cards and the pools.
Built beside a working café
These apps were built alongside a coffee roaster that runs its own cafés. The kitchen screen began as the one its bar already used, and the loyalty program was modelled on the one its customers already had.
